LG Electronics, market leader of the smart education verticals, showcased its advanced line-up of ‘smart’ education solutions and products at Gulf Education Supplies and Solutions (GESS) Exhibition.
Already supporting the Mohammed Bin Rashid Smart Learning Program (MBRSLP), the brand recorded phenomenal growth in 2014 for its B2B signage performance due to increased demand for smart verticals catering to specific sectors.
LG Electronics installed the Ultra High Definition 84” Interactive White Board Solution across 138 schools in the UAE. These smart education solutions provide an enriching experience by delivering interactive multi-touch and wireless connectivity to smart devices. These unique features allow teachers and students to engage in a more cohesive educational environment. On the sidelines of the GESS, Capital Business caught up with Robert Nurgberg – Director of Marketing MEA B2B, LG Electronics who gave us more details about the exceptional education experience provided by LG Electronics.
What is driving LG Electronics to enhance the education experience?
The educational sector is looking for cost effective and smarter ways to implement education and improve learning. This move is rapidly taking place as we speak, and LG Electronics has a long history of providing top-class reliable screens with high quality touch features. This is the corner stone in the smart classroom set-up, and we want to provide our experience to the education community, in order to give them the best solution, optimize the experience and offer the best total cost of ownership.
How is LG engaging with the education sector in the UAE?
During 2014, we installed around 800 large format displays at different prominent schools across the country, under the Mohammad bin Rashid Smart Learning Program (MBRSLP). This has been a fantastic opportunity to show what LG can do in the educational sector. Also, we are looking forward to continue the close and fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the MBRSLP team.
What are the education solutions that LG is providing for Smart City?
We are providing anything and everything from small to large screens for a multitude of applications. It can be for way-finding, announcement boards, advertising, monitoring and education.
Could you please tell us about your participation in Gulf Education Supplies and Solutions (GESS)?
LG participated to give visitors a close-up and interactive experience of what screens and software can do. Our aim was to expose our technological leadership and share the experience around educational screen solutions.
We are targeting the whole chain, from procurement to end-users. They are all part of the important task of supplying a long-lasting relationship and a solution that works for everyone.
According to you, how is innovation developing the next generation?
Currently, the next generation is driving innovation. The technological development is so fast, and if it does not appeal to the next generation, they very quickly de-select and move on.
What is LG doing differently in the Middle East to remain at the forefront of innovation?
Listening to the end-user and hereby learning the actual needs in the classroom. Moreover the products are optimized with regards to durability under the regions special conditions, like dust, sand, heat, and humidity.
How do you plan to meet the educational needs in the future?
Through a close relationship with all parties involved in making education better, and by providing the best quality products, best support and most innovative solutions.

Robert Nurgberg is the Director of Marketing for B2B at LG Electronics in the Middle East and Africa. Prior to this position, he was heading Strategy and Business Development of internet content and services for the next generation internet connected TVs (SmartTVs) for MEA region.
